National Hate crime awareness week
Greater Manchester Police is actively involved in raising awareness about hate crime through various initiatives, including the National Hate Crime Awareness Week. This week is dedicated to encouraging the public to report incidents of hate crime and to reflect on how communities can ensure everyone feels respected, safe, and included. The police have made significant efforts to engage with the community, including visiting places of worship and speaking to members of the public to explain different types of hate crime and how to report them. They have also made 10,000 visits to all places of worship to ensure that community leaders and members feel able to speak to them about their concerns and report anything to them. The Greater Manchester Hate Crime Plan 2024–2028 sets out a shared vision to prevent hate crime, improve confidence in reporting, strengthen support for victims, and bring communities together. The plan emphasizes the importance of reporting hate crime and the support available across Greater Manchester.
